Wolf In Winter offers a premium outdoor care experience to give dogs more than a standard walk or traditional daycare environment. Our structured adventure hikes are built around space, guidance, and thoughtful handling — giving dogs the opportunity to move freely, socialize appropriately, and engage with the world in a calm, well-managed way.

Each adventure begins with door-to-door pick-up before we head to our private, fully fenced acreages. These expansive natural spaces allow dogs to run, explore, sniff, play, and decompress safely, while remaining under the guidance of our Professional Dog Handlers.
Our adventures are intentionally structured, not simply supervised. Dogs are grouped into small, compatible packs where energy levels, play styles, confidence, and temperament are all carefully considered. Throughout the day, our handlers support healthy social interactions, appropriate group play, recall practice, respectful manners, and regulated behaviour in an outdoor environment.
Door to door, adventures typically run 3–4 hours and include pick-up, transport, structured hiking time, pack management, and a calm return home. The full experience is designed with intention, from the way dogs are introduced into the group to the way they transition home at the end of the day.

PlayCare - An Elevated Full Day Adventure

PlayCare is Wolf in Winter’s signature full day outdoor care experience, thoughtfully curated around what dogs truly need: movement, structure, rest, enrichment, and calm social connection. Dogs are collected directly from home and spend the day immersed in two structured adventure hikes across our private, fully fenced acreages. These exclusive outdoor experiences offer the freedom to run, explore, socialize, and engage with nature within a safe, professionally guided environment designed entirely around canine wellbeing.

Between adventures, dogs retreat to our farmhouse for intentional midday rest and quiet decompression. This refined balance of activity and restoration is central to our PlayCare philosophy. Supporting emotional regulation, preventing overstimulation, and allowing dogs to remain grounded, fulfilled, and genuinely content is the Wolf In Winter way.
PlayCare is not a traditional daycare model, nor do we follow the conventional approach to group dog care. It’s a premium, full day experience intentionally designed around outdoor movement, structured pack dynamics, positive social development, and meaningful rest.
Dogs are carefully matched into small, compatible groups and guided by our Professional Dog Handlers, who thoughtfully support safe behaviour, respectful social interaction, recall practice, confidence building, and balanced group engagement during pack hikes.

We also offer expert grooming & nail trim services with our in-house groomer Annie, exclusively for existing Wolf in Winter clients! This allows your dog’s care and maintenance to remain seamlessly within a trusted team who already knows them well.

We do not offer overnight boarding or pet sitting at our acreages. Wolf in Winter is not a kennel or overnight care facility, and our services focus on structured daytime care through PlayCare and our Adventure Programs.

In some cases, clients may independently arrange overnight care directly with one of our Professional Dog Handlers, either in the client’s home or the handler’s home. These arrangements are made privately between the client and the individual handler, are subject to availability, and are separate from Wolf in Winter’s services.

If you’re unsure what type of overnight care might be the best fit for your dog, we’re always happy to offer general guidance or referrals.

We’re not a private dog training service, and we don’t offer one-on-one training sessions with owners. What we do is intentionally develop behaviour and practical skills through structure, consistency, and thoughtful handling, all within an environment dogs genuinely enjoy.

As part of our work, we actively train and reinforce skills such as recall, leash manners, calm greetings, and appropriate social behaviour with the dogs in our care. Guided by our Professional Dog Handlers and supported by small, well-matched groups, dogs practice these skills in real-world settings while moving, exploring, and having fun.

Because dogs are physically fulfilled and socially supported, learning tends to happen more naturally. Many clients notice reduced reactivity, improved social skills, better confidence, and more settled behaviour at home over time. We often act as the missing link between private training sessions and everyday life, helping skills become reliable and lasting.

Dogs who benefit from a slower pace, clear guidance, and active advocacy often do exceptionally well with us. This includes shy or sensitive dogs, puppies who are ready for a structured group environment, and older dogs who still enjoy movement and engagement.

We actively manage interactions and advocate for dogs who need extra support, ensuring they’re never pressured or overwhelmed. Puppies benefit from learning alongside calm, well-matched dogs, while senior or lower-energy dogs are supported with appropriate pacing and rest.

Our private spaces, small groups, and experienced handling allow dogs to build confidence, improve social skills, and enjoy meaningful activity at a level that suits them.

We welcome dogs who are comfortable participating in a small, thoughtfully managed group environment. Because our services involve off-leash movement, shared space, transportation, and close one-on-one interaction with our handlers, we are not currently accepting dogs with human-directed reactivity.

We understand that many dogs may experience stress, nervousness, or anxiety in new environments, and we’re often happy to work with those dogs through patient handling, relationship-building, and a gradual introduction process. Dogs with mild dog reactivity may also be considered on a case-by-case basis if the behaviours are manageable and do not pose a risk to the safety and wellbeing of our pack, handlers, or other clients’ dogs.

Every dog is assessed individually through our in-home consult process to ensure we’re setting them up for a safe and positive experience.
