We do not offer overnight boarding or pet sitting at our acreages. Wolf in Winter is not a kennel or overnight care facility, and our services focus on structured daytime care through PlayCare and our Adventure Programs.

In some cases, clients may independently arrange overnight care directly with one of our Professional Dog Handlers, either in the client’s home or the handler’s home. These arrangements are made privately between the client and the individual handler, are subject to availability, and are separate from Wolf in Winter’s services.

If you’re unsure what type of overnight care might be the best fit for your dog, we’re always happy to offer general guidance or referrals.

We operate in most weather conditions, including rain. In cases of extreme weather or unsafe conditions, we may adjust plans or cancel for the day, and clients are notified as early as possible.

We pick your dog up directly from your home and transport them safely to and from our private acreages in our company vehicles. Dogs are returned home settled and relaxed after their adventure.

Our Dog Adventures take place on our private, fully fenced acreages in Central Saanich and Metchosin. These are large, natural spaces where dogs can move freely, explore, and engage with the environment in a calm, well-managed way.

We don’t restrict dogs based on size or breed. What matters most is temperament, comfort in a group setting, and whether the environment is the right fit for your dog.

Our consult process allows us to assess each dog individually and place them in a compatible group where they can be safe, successful, and enjoy their day.

We’re not a private dog training service, and we don’t offer one-on-one training sessions with owners. What we do is intentionally develop behaviour and practical skills through structure, consistency, and thoughtful handling, all within an environment dogs genuinely enjoy.

As part of our work, we actively train and reinforce skills such as recall, leash manners, calm greetings, and appropriate social behaviour with the dogs in our care. Guided by our Professional Dog Handlers and supported by small, well-matched groups, dogs practice these skills in real-world settings while moving, exploring, and having fun.

Because dogs are physically fulfilled and socially supported, learning tends to happen more naturally. Many clients notice reduced reactivity, improved social skills, better confidence, and more settled behaviour at home over time. We often act as the missing link between private training sessions and everyday life, helping skills become reliable and lasting.

Dogs who benefit from a slower pace, clear guidance, and active advocacy often do exceptionally well with us. This includes shy or sensitive dogs, puppies who are ready for a structured group environment, and older dogs who still enjoy movement and engagement.

We actively manage interactions and advocate for dogs who need extra support, ensuring they’re never pressured or overwhelmed. Puppies benefit from learning alongside calm, well-matched dogs, while senior or lower-energy dogs are supported with appropriate pacing and rest.

Our private spaces, small groups, and experienced handling allow dogs to build confidence, improve social skills, and enjoy meaningful activity at a level that suits them.

We welcome dogs who are comfortable being around other dogs and our people in a small, well-managed group setting. Because our days include off-leash movement, shared space, and calm social time, dogs need to be able to participate safely and without high levels of anxiety.

Dogs who are currently reactive toward other dogs or people are not a fit for PlayCare or group Adventure Hikes at this time. Many dogs who may feel unsure in busy or overstimulating environments, however, do very well with us thanks to our private, fenced acreages, small group sizes, and thoughtful handling.

Every dog is assessed individually through our in-home consult process to ensure we’re setting them up for a safe and positive experience.
